What does Mental Health really mean?

People don't always know what mental health really means. They automatically assume it's something to do with just something someone is going through consider as a "tough time" or "hardship", that "it will past" or "they will get over it." Or that the person is crazy or seriously ill.

But that's not entirely true. People can't just "get over it" it's not something you can cure with medicine or a good night sleep. Its something that sticks with you, your entire life.

For example I suffer from Bipolar Disorder I, which makes me experience these severally low and high moods. Yes, there are medications that help me get through the day but it doesn't cure it. You still have moments and episodes that trigger anxiety, depression, manic urges.

The sooner people can understand that, Mental health is in fact a populated issue, the faster we can help our community.

"How do you help someone with mental illness?"

Again, as I stated before there is not a per se cure for mental illness. There are variety of treatment options, but it also helps to improve that person's environmental surroundings. Helping them realize they aren't alone in this. Providing coping mechanisms, hobbies. Something to help them get out of their own minds of feeling that they are alone, or that they'll never be the same again.

Life isn't full of lemons, you could be a very wealthy person and still experience mental health issues. Millions of people even popular figures have experienced some form of mental health problem. Some try to hide it to avoid backlash from reporters slamming their name. Instead of bashing them we need to support them too, because they are people! Just like every single one of us! They are human with their own struggles. The self worth not feeling like enough even if things are going super well! It happens! We are human and we aren't built to just be happy all the time with our lives! Everyday someone is experiencing some form of mental health problems. Whether it be depression, anxiety, development of loss of appetite or isolation. I can go on and on about what other factors are considered a mental health condition. But the lining fact is that we need to come together as community and help one another.

There are tons and tons of things in the world today that helps and provides support for people who do suffer from it. But we have to ask ourselves "Why are the numbers steadily increasing instead of decreasing?"

If you live in the same world as we do today, there is so much happening every single day. Different laws being made, political changes, environmental issues, health crisis, wage changes, financial problems, etc.

Different factors affect many different people. We are all different in some sort of way, we weren't made to be the same. But the one thing we can do is support one another in this world. Because everyday, every single second someone has lost their life to a mental health battle they are fighting.

So, to wrap it up. Think to yourself what is one thing you could do to make a change in this world? Doesn't have to be something huge. But what can you do to help another person who may be experiencing these struggles? Again. It doesn't have to be something big, it's the thought that counts. Whether it be saying "Thank you" or "Have a wonderful day!" Any small gesture of words of encouragement could seriously be something huge in someone else life.
